On the journey of becoming, I am inspired by the beauty and power of words to cultivate soul wellness.
My story with words
It was a beautiful Friday afternoon. The sun streamed through the windows, filling the room with light. “Free Write Friday”—a time when my sixth-grade classmates and I could write whatever we wanted—was here again.
I sat down at the computer station closest to the windows and began to type. All around me, keys clattered loudly.
Engrossed in the moment and basking in the warmth of the sun, my soul took flight as words spilled onto the screen.
The plot twist
A lot of time has passed since then, but the practice of regularly writing has remained a constant.
Interestingly, although writing was a source of delight and strength to me over the years, walking a path that included sharing my writing publicly was never originally “my plan.” Over time, however, I sensed a clear invitation to attend to and honor the breadcrumb trail of my love of words.
I also came to recognize that God was gently initiating a shift in my calling, nudging me to harness the beauty and power of words to cultivate soul wellness and encourage fullness of life in his people.
This redirection took me out of the field of education and into the world of content writing, development, and strategy—and launching Honey Salted Words!
What exactly is a ‘honey salted word’? Find the answer to that here!

Someone who aspires to be known by primarily one identity: that I am beloved of God. This is the most important thing about me. It’s the most important thing about you too.
Equal parts playful and contemplative.
A devoted friend, sister, and daughter. I’m also an aunt to the cutest, smartest, and funniest nieces and nephews in the world.
Global in my background and experiences. Specifically, I’m a proud Nigerian-Canadian who was raised under Alberta’s big skies and on its open prairies. I’ve also lived in the U.S. for most of my adult life. God has used these diverse cultural experiences to show me how to cultivate connections that are rooted in the truest things.
A millennial of the mid-1980s variety. Yes, I remember life before smartphones—when phones were actually attached to walls by cords. Can we bring that back?

My generation and Gen Z. I had the privilege of teaching Gen Z students in the classroom for ten years. The oldest have now graduated from college, and the youngest are about to begin high school in a few months. What a bright, empathetic, curious, wildly-creative-yet-practical, and open-hearted generation they are!
Encouraging and supporting faith-based content and the creators who bring God’s light to the world through their writing, speaking, or content-driven entrepreneurial endeavors. Over the years, I’ve had various professional opportunities to work with this group, and I so appreciate the role they play in God’s kingdom.
Folks who grew up in the church and with Christianity, but ended up with an experience of it that left them feeling empty or exhausted. Despite all this, they still dare to believe that John 10:10 is true and that there is more to life with God.
